Submission Why Does Love Have To Be So Sad

no way could i have played that track in my first band - not so much fingers but ears. our level was savoy brown, the doors, allman bros, santana, van morrison, chicago, etc. you get the picture.

I agree. Those are some classic groups. As you can probably tell from some of my other transcriptions, I'm still an Allman Brothers Band fan, in particular, but I like all those groups. Sometimes I feel guilty about not listening to much recorded since then. Going back even earlier is no problem.

Lee...are you old enough to remember Song Books?
These would have chords, piano, bass (sometimes decent bass notation, sometimes piano bass), & lyrics. These are above the quality of Piano/Voice/Guitar books. Song Books, though, are not as good as the Transcribed Scores books.
Anyway, I still have (of course) all the ones I had as a teen.
One of them is "The Allman Brothers Complete".

The Summer I shedded 12 hours a day...I was in "Led Zeppelin Complete" constantly.

...nothing wrong with covering those groups in your 1st band.
I wasn't that lucky. Or good.
we were lucky - great singer covered our lameness. also, these were the days where you'd play one club for weeks, 4 sets a night 5 nights a week. set up at the start of the run, work up tunes at the club in the daytime, tear down at the end of the run. you get better fast, can't help it.

I'm probably old enough, but I never read music until recently. I took a music theory course in high school, but I played only by ear. I envy musicians who have decades of experience reading music.
