Do you like forced dichotomies?

So many polls or opinion question threads on this and other forums limit your choice to one or the other of something. When did we become so simpleminded? Why is having and using a variety of gear in a variety of contexts so hard to accept? Why do people keep responding! Gaaah!
This is why God gave us carrots.

They're not necessarily forced--sometimes it's that somebody has narrowed down their options to two & wants others to share their opinions.

If I find too few options listed or my answer isn't there--I'll add it if I comment--such as--this-

It depends.

People attempting to make political arguments like to set up false dichotomies. They especially like to load their questions so that neither option is true, but one seems more attractive. Trying to get them to acknowledge any grey area between the two silly options is sometimes not productive.

The result is questions that make as much sense as "Do you walk to school, or carry your lunch?"
