Will this work for running backing tracks?

So i'm starting a hip hop side project and need to run my backing tracks live. I've had issues using computers and just my tablet and am hoping that the mixer will help out. Im thinking of using an android tablet into a mixer. Then from the mixer into a passive DI to the FOH. This way I can give them more signal if needed. Or could I got tablet into preamp di pedal? Does this sound like a simple idea that'll work? Thanks much.

We’ve done backing tracks from a tablet before and it worked fine. The only thing to keep in mind that the tablet’s output is stereo. If your tracks are mono, all you need is to send one side of a splitter cable to a direct box. If your tracks are stereo, then you’ll need two direct boxes, and as such two channels of the FOH console. If that’s not acceptable to the FOH, you’ll need to send your stereo signal to a mixer that will combine it for a mono output to the FOH.

Thanks for the reply. So a stereo 1/8' to 1/4' mono from the tablet to a mini mixer and then a instrument cable from the mixer to a di box? That sound right. Also my tracks are mono with no click needed.

A cable like this will work. If your tracks are mono, you can just use one of the 1/4" plugs directly to the direct box – no need for the mixer.

I was adding the mixer just encase they need more gain than my tablet can provide. I've had issues there my mixes would be too quiet or something and couldn't feed the FOH anything more. Just a backup I guess.

Mono 1/8” plug into a stereo jack is a bad idea.

OTH, I’ve seen stereo 1/8” to mono 1/4" (link below), but I’m not sure I’d trust a cable like that, not knowing how it’s internally wired. If it’s tying both L/R leads from the 1/8” together - I don’t like that at all. I'd stick with the mixer, or the splitter cable I linked before
