Wired my MIM Jazz bass to series but the bridge pickup isn’t working?

I decided to added a push pull dpdt pot to my neck volume pot to split series and parallel wiring. I heard it would complete change the game. Anyway I did it and I’ll attach the schematic I followed to a T, but when in series (pushed down) it’s only the neck pickup, when it’s pushed up in parallel it’s both. I took a screwdriver to the pickups And the neck reacted but I got nothing from the bridge. Did the same test for parallel and both pickups were working. This is my 3rd time playing with a push pull knob, first time on a guitar with 3 knobs, what did I do wrong here?

That’s what it looked like before I did anything, I don’t have a picture of what it looked like after I was done, I’m from Chicago but I’m in Georgia till Sunday, I’ll take a picture when I get back. I also attached the schematic I followed and a picture of the bass

When the two pickups are wired in series, they become one unit, resulting in having one volume control, just like on a P bass. Nothing wrong otherwise with the fact the second volume knob is nonfunctional now.
I know, but is it normal for it to not react to a screwdriver when you touch it? I don’t know what it’s called but it makes a buzz sound for both pickups in parallel and only does that for the neck pickup in series, when I touch the bridge it’s completely quiet

When you had it pushed down, was the bridge volume control turned up?
When it was pushed down in series the volume control did nothing, I tried it with it at 100% -0% and it didn’t work. Worked perfectly when the pot was up in parallel though( however the neck volume was backwards when I wired it, I forgot to say that. Honestly if someone can send me a better more detailed schematic, that would mean the world to me, I think I’m just gonna redo it when I get back in town

If the neck pot was always working, except for being backwards, everything sounds right. Series mode BYPASSES the bridge pot and puts all of the signal through the neck pot. In parallel mode they both should work normally as (VVT).

The backwards thing sounds like you might have missed or miswired a ground. If you get that straightened out you should be good. I use that very same diagram and I assure you it shows you all the connections.

Re: “I took a screwdriver to both pickup” To clarify, are you saying that you tapped the magnets on both pickups with a screwdriver and only the neck pickup produced noise with the series option engaged?

I had my jazz bass wired in series and what happened was that there is now only one volume control for both pickups. In my case, I chose to have the volume knob for the neck pickup be the one that controlled both of them. If I turn down the volume for the neck pickup and turn up the volume for the bridge pickup, there is no sound. When it's wired in series, it's both pickups fully on using only one volume knob. At least this is the way my guitar tech explained it to me.

A good point, in series both need to be in the circuit or you shouldn't get any sound, from either one. Need to see pics of how you wired it. Would also be helpful to know the kind of switch you used.

I do this mod a lot and just discovered that push/pull pots are not standardized. Bournes connects differently than Alpha, which was news to me and I've been at this for a while.

Check what that configuration is to properly make sure it's doing what you want it to do. Once you know what connects to what in which position, it's easy to wire up exactly how you need it.

Got a multimeter?

It’s a fender replacement part 250k push pull split pot, do you know of a wiring schematic that is more detailed then the one I’m using?

This?

250K Push/Pull Potentiometer | Parts

Typically the middle 2 connect to the outer 2 (which outer 2 depends on the position of the push/pull). With a meter you could test that by checking continuity.
That’s the one.the volume in series& parallel for the neck now turns opposite of what it use to, did I mistake the left row for the right, or is it something else. I’m going to redo it Sunday, do you have any detailed schematics? The one I used was good but I wish it had more detail cose I’m still very much learning
