Working through Koussevitzky

As a professor, how would you advise a student to work through the first movement of the koussevitzky concerto? What recordings would your recommend a student listen to to get it in there ear? Would you use midi tracks?

I avoid midi tracks. Get a pianist friend to read it with you, then do that as often as possible. One skill that every musician needs is the ability to read and interpret sheet music (or other documentation). Understanding what is NOT written in the music, but that you must create, is critical to sounding like YOU not like others. So listening to recordings is a good starting point, but, PLEASE, do not try to sound like a recording. Eventually you must be you in order to be satisfied with your endeavors. If you were studying my music, I would say the same thing - don't sound like the way I interpret stuff.
