Affinity is squier, its their cheapest line. I find in general peavey necks are nicer than the affinities. If it was mail order, I'd buy peavey. I wouldn't buy an affinity without getting my hands on it first.Am I gaining much with purchasing the fury instead of a used squier or affinity?
unless you're looking for your last bass ever, something that transcends mere worktool status wherein you'd absolutely need to try before you buy, no. Not really.Am I gaining much with purchasing the fury instead of a used squier or affinity?
I just bought a Peavey Fury and have to say I'm extremely happy with it, I do have a MIM Fender P bass as well, but this has the lighter weight, has a thinner jazz like neck and for me, doesn't seem as chunky - it makes for a terrific P Bass alternative, if any of those qualities are things you might be interested in. It's also got that nice P Bass sound pretty similar to my MIM so not losing anything in that area- I have to admit it far exceeded my expectations, very well made for I think what was their more inexpensive US made basses. Being that they can often be bought for around $100-150 (I paid $100 with Peavey hard case, keeping the Schecter could be an option as they're very different basses.I currently play a Schecter Stiletto Stage 4 but I want a more precision like/indie bass tone. I was wondering if it was worth buying a Peavey Axcelerator Series 2006 or a Peavey Fury or if I should just keep the Shecter.
Same here...thinking back at some of my preconceived notions - the Fury being an older Peavey bass, I thought it would well, be a little on the heavy side like the "T" series basses for some reason. Different models but again, that was my mistaken notion. That given the price they go for, I was expecting something along the lines of a Milestone - why buy an older version of a budget bass when a newer and similar model is around the same price or perhaps buy a Squier Affinity instead- not that there's anything wrong with Milestones , I owned a Milestone but the Fury basses are quite a bit better in quality -really caught me by surprise in terms of expectations. Had I known, as I have passed on a few Fury basses .Those fury basses are the best kept secret most bass players know about. Such a good deal for the price and you would pay a bit more for a fender of similar quality. People have some strange thing against Peavey? Don’t get me wrong. I love my fender gear but I would have a fury bass or two if I had known about them back when I was broke.
So all one-pickup furys are us made?Just remember, the USA ones come with only one pickup.
As far as I know, all of the slant pickup (one super-ferrite pickup) and the split pickup (p-style) furies are US made. The 2 -pickup and one VFL soapbar pickup furies are imports. I'll try to find a pic of a VFL import Fury.So all one-pickup furys are us made?
I think what he meant to say is the US Fury basses have either that one slanted pickup (as in the Gen 1) or the single set of split coils (like a P). There is a Korean Fury model (I think its the IV?) with generally two soapbar pickups and active preamp that look nothing like the US ones- it looks like the Millenium. So all one-pickup furys are us made?
