Double Bass Would a bass setup for slapping work for bluegrass novice?

I'm looking at a used plywood bass currently set up for Rockabilly, and the strings are also esp. chosen for that style (slapping?). However, my interests are totally novice on bass, with bluegrass as my main genre. From what I can tell, this might be a good match as far as the set up and string choice goes. Please correct me if I am way off the path!

I'd say 'Yes'. Thats gonna work fine so long as you can hear a good tone from the strings however you pull them.

Agree with the spanion. Mine's setup for rockabilly but I play a lot of bluegrass too
