Would a Hartke HD112 cabinet be enough to gig with?

Im looking to upgrade from my bedroom practice setup and have decided on a tc electronic bh250 head and am now looking at some cabs to pair with. For the sake of portability id like to keep it to a single cabinet. Ive also decided on useing hartke cabs but theres quite a range to choose from. Im basically looking for something that would be able to cover me for smaller gigs, I mostly play basement and bars in a rock band.

Between the hartke xl, hx and hd , the options for 2x10,1x15,or 1x12 im quite lost. Would any of these paired with my 250w head be sufficient?

My opinion: Stick to either the HyDrive or HyDrive HD lines as they have textured vinyl covering as opposed to carpet which will get nasty over time no matter how meticulous you are... Granted, this is an aesthetic consideration but an important consideration, nonetheless. IMO, the resale value would be better on a non-carpet cabinet should you ever decide to upgrade or try something different.

^^^Check out this thread^^^-- specifically the Over/Underpowering Cabs and Speaker Size Discussions sections. The answers you seek are all there

Basically, your BH250 should play fine through 1x12, 1x15, 2x10, and beyond. Read a bit about speaker sizes-- each size achieves a distinct sound.

Is there a music shop near you that might have Hartke speakers in-stock? If so, you could have a visit there (bring the BH250, it's small enough ;)) and plug into different cabinet sizes!

I've also been considering getting the tc electrons bg250 208 which is basically the same head + 2x8in speakers but then I would pair that with the a 2x10 or 1x12 .. although I'm not sure exactly how much that would improve volume.

Is the 250w head enough for something like this?

I'd aim for something with a little more juice (400-500) and more speaker area like a 2 X 12 for something truly gig-worthy. What's you budget?

I love posting my rig.. you can gig with a 6 piece band with a loud drummer with either one or two 12" cabs.

My Budget is around $750 I suppose but the thing is I currently live in Singapore which limits my options quite a bit. Since I have to pay an outrageous shipping fee whenever I order anything that ain't available locally.

Which is why I was asking about the Hartke cabs, which seem extremely abundant around here.

Also the more I think about it the more I lean towards the b208 combo and later adding a 1x15 or 2x10. A2x8 paired with either of these should have sufficient volume no? There's some people here on talkbass that reportedly say it performs quite well.

I have had great results with a ten piece band using my Avatar SB112; of course, you would want PA or FOH support with such a cab. IMO, PA support makes virtually any small cab very giggable.

I used to own that combo. FYI on its' own it does not get very loud, at all...juss sayin'...I'm not a TC fan, but in terms of their combos, you'd be far louder/better off with a 115.

Thats why im leaning towards the b208, since its the only one that has an external speaker output to potentially connect another cab.

With only about 200 onboard watts, unless your second cab is larger than a 112, you won't be much farther ahead than a 115 combo with the same power, but you'll have 2 boxes to carry. TC has a record of "optimistic" power ratings.

If there's a GK MB200 or Markbass Nano available near you (both of which seem to have fairly broad geographical availability), one of those into a used 210 or 115 cab might be your best bet, with the ability to add another 8 Ohm cab later.

Depends on how loud your band is.

If you got a heavy handed drummer and a guitarist with a Marshal half stack or better you are going to want two.
If you routinely play without needing earplugs one will do.

A 250w head and one 12 inch speaker?

No.

Look for a 500w head minimum and more than one speaker, regardless of size.

I liked the HyDrive 410 I owned. The tolex was a bit chintzy but they're great budget-conscious cabs.

In a ROCK BAND as you say.. no. Definitely not. A 112 with no matter what amp powering it- wouldn't be enough for my needs.
No matter what the specs state, I find it very rare for any 1x12" cab to be able to handle more than about 170w before the single 12" driver starts complaining. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
On the other hand, I CAN happily do many of my gigs with a single 1x15. :wideyed::cigar::bored:

How is the supply of plywood? It's much less outrageous to import drivers and build locally.
