again, sort of going along with my previous thread. just trying to ask the question i was wondering about. to all,
yes, design is hard. and i’m not very experienced. and it’s more complicated than i seem to be making it, i know. but i’m just asking if these speakers will sound like crap in this cabinet’s volume. you all are very knowledgeable, so i’d appreciate getting an answer to this rather than lurking around old threads. thanks!
a cabinet is ~5.5 cubic feet, sealed. the speakers would be legend bp122, two of them into the cabinet. as per the eminence speaker enclosure sheets, the cabinet would fall right in between the large and medium sealed cabinet in terms of volume. the speaker has good frequency response in the various simulations i sorta amateurishly put out.
i’m asking this question because, despite the enclosure designs and tber’s always saying a cabinet is “too small” to support various drivers, these legend bp122 and other speakers similar to it (basslite, beta and delta) only seem to see a sealed cabinet when it’s tiny. i’ve only ever seen threads about sealed cabinet designs for like 1.5 cubic feet per driver tops.
are you supposed to put these speakers into tight spaces when they’re sealed?? is it because most people just want small and lightweight cabinets??
