My brand new Yamaha SLB300 has a horrible rattle because the battery compartment doesn't fit properly. Suggestions for repairing vs. replacing the compartment? Don't want to return the bass to Japan. Thank you!
Are you sure it is the battery compartment? Only asking because mine had a rattle which I tracked to the screw in the aluminum "shoulder support" arm. The one that swings down into a fitting below the neck. The screw can be tightened, which is what was needed on mine. The battery box on mine is loose fitting, but doesn't rattle.
Forgot to mention that I had to have the original battery box on mine replaced. Found a local Yamaha-listed repair person who did the work. I ordered the part directly from Yamaha, and he installed. I'm in Fort Myers, Florida area.

I bought my SLB-300 on line from the Electric Violin Shop. They are based in in Durham NC. I see you are from NC - not sure if that is close but that might be an option for you. If you call them they pick up the phone. Good Luck.
P.S I have not experienced any problems with mine in 2++ years.
