Yorkville Bass Master 200 1x15

So I strolled into guitar center in Mobile Alabama yesterday and came across this blue rat-fur covered Yorkville amplifier. Supposedly it had a blown speaker. At that price of $25 I can hardly say no. I brought it home and found it to be fully functional although it does have a rattle on lower notes at higher volumes. I don't believe it to be the speaker but something in the enclosure because the speaker itself never craps out no matter how hard you push it. What do you guys know about this amp? It seems to sound really good! Pretty much a keeper for me, I would just like your thoughts on it.

I owned and played one of those for a year or so back in the early 2000s. Thing is basically bombproof as is most Yorkville stuff. Take it apart and see what's rattling.

I never really bonded with it, though. It was boomy and boxy and wasn't able to get very loud. I put a Sans Amp BDDI in front of it and that helped a bit. What really helped it was selling it and buying something else!

This was my first post on TB back almost 15 years ago!

SWR "workingman's" or YORKVILLE

This is an even better deal than the Orange Crush 35b I picked up for $75 the other day! I have a smaller version of the Yorkville with a 10" speaker and 50watts. It sounds good for an electric bass practice but not good for upright gigs. I finally found a use for it, sometimes play a restaurant gig with some old jazzers and we use it for a pa ...ha ha! Yorkville is made by Traynor and is bulletproof. Good find!

Honestly stoked about it. I've been needing a sort of "portable" amp that I can throw in the car. Most of my stuff is either heavy head/cab, pain in the arse show gear, or too small to keep up with a band. So having something that can keep up and move relatively easy is great!! I find it's got plenty of volume and the tone is between an Ampeg and a GK of similar size. Sounds great! You'd never hear the rattle in a band situation. I probably wil still take it apart though to figure it out. I'm 99% sure it isn't a speaker issue at all. You can drive it really hard and it never makes any crapping out noises. You know. Those splatting sounds blown drivers make. I can play chords at high volumes. No noise. Just specific lower frequencies. I also bought a Johnson JT50 guitar amp for $25 as well. It however has no output. Ehh. No biggie. It can be a guitar extension cabinet. Looks cool. I'd been happy getting this Yorkie for $100. So I really got $50 in it if you wanna include the fail of the Johnson.
