Zoom B3 ... start/stop Looper via external footswitch?

I have a Zoom B3 and the FS01 external footswitch plugged in to it.
The B3 sits on top of my amp and I use hands on it not feet.
I was hoping to use the external footswitch to start/stop the looper but cannot seem to.

Has anyone tried this?
