Zoom q4 or something else?

I was about to get me a zoom q3hd but those can't be found anymore.. in fact even theQ4 is harder to find now which seems to have been replaced by q4n
Am looking to spend as little as possible and get me a device that can record video and audio.. one of those handy devices with those little stereo condenser microphones you know?
Are there other lesser known brands I should check out?

Edit - I know the Sony hdvr1 is probably the best but it costs around 300$ and looking to spend about half of that as Audio is more important than the video. I just need video as an add on. If video is important I get a DSLR I mean a real camera

If you go this route, you might check out soundprofessionals.com. Under the stereo omni microphones section there are numerous choices for smartphones and other devices. Many are designed to be headworn but could be set up in a fixed position of course.
