I recently put Zyex light strings on my DB and I love the sound and feel and I'm wondering if anyone has tried them on an EUB. I have a Yamaha SLB 200 that has a well used set of D'Addario Helicore Pizzicato Mediums that are the factory recommended strings and they are sounding pretty dead and it is time to change them.Any comments or suggestions regarding switching to Zyex on the Yamaha?

I wondered about that. The lights are a nice tension so I was hoping they would work as well on the Yamaha as they do on my Engelhardt S9 DB. I'll see if I get more feedback here and might try the mediums.
Thanks for your suggestions, that's the type of input I need.
BTW, you're not too far from me,I'm east of North Bay near Mattawa.

I recently pickup a used SLB 200. I need to make a new nut for it, but I put on Zyex lights and they work well for pizz and even work for arco. I've used Zyex on my Stagg EUB and they work there too, but not as well as on the SLB 200 for arco.

Glad to hear the Zyex lights worked for you.I play arco at home for practice but only pizz at rehearsals or gigs so it's nice to know they work OK for arco.Just out of curiosity, why did you choose the Zyex for your SLB 200,did someone recommend them?
BTW,I am also a former Stagg owner and that is what got me heading down the upright bass road, first upgrading to the Yamaha that I still use on some gigs and then to a DB.... best thing that has happened to me musically!
Thanks for your input.

I wanted a synthetic core string that didn't have a lot of tension when I first had my Stagg (I had Evahs on my carved bass and like the tension there but didn't want to pay the price for a whole set of Evahs for the Stagg) and gave Zyex a try after reading threads on the Stagg. I really like the tension of the Zyex on the SLB 200 for pizz.
