A device which can store an electric charge. Probably the cheapest, easiest, most dramatic means of altering tone in a bass from changing component(s). Standard bass is .05 mfd, the higher the value the bassier the tone becomes as the high notes (and Attack) is rolled off. Common Values
- 0.022uF - Rarely used in basses due to its relatively low ability to roll off the high frequencies.
- 0.047uF - The most common value used in basses.
- 0.1uF - Often found in vintage basses where no tone pot is used, with the capacitor always being fully engaged.
