    FAQs
    1. Is Thunderbird Club essentially a biker gang?
No. Many of us don't even own a leather vest, but some of us have tee shirts. Like the Thunderbird bass itself, Thunderbird Club is kind of its own thing. We all own and play Thunderbirds - some exclusively, others along with FSOs, Ricks, doghouses, and everything else you can think of, so don't get offended if we joke about those. We banter a lot, keeping up with musical journeys, amps, family, etc. If you like Thunderbirds or are Thunderbird-curious, come on over!
    2. I tried to search for an answer about [whatever] but ...
We don't encourage the search function; it's mediocre at best, and we like discussion and interaction. While we'll have a few answers here, you'll still want probably want to discuss it in the club. There are some really knowledgeable and experienced people in there - as well as newbies, etc. The demographics are Wide.
    3. But aren't Thunderbirds one trick ponies?
You can play pretty much anything on a Thunderbird, and you can rest assured that someone in the club has. Come ask about whatever genre you heard 'birds are no good for; someone there probably plays it.
    4. But don't Thunderbirds neck dive horribly?
Very few dive hard. Some dive, some don't, but even those that do are generally quite manageable with proper button placement and strap type/positioning. Most other brands all have examples that dive as well.
    5. But don't Thunderbird headstocks snap off if you look at them wrong, sometimes hard enough to decapitate the lead guitarist?
Short answer: no one has shown any evidence that my client has decapitated anyone.
Long answer: The early Thunderbirds, with Thin necks and no scarf joint at the headstock, could break if the headstock was banged into something. This has also been true of some Les Paul models, but somehow people still play them as well. Most Thunderbirds are not that snappable. Feel free to come ask for stories, but if you are wanting a bass for self defense, we suggest an FSO.
    6. How do they work sitting down?
Most birds work very well when played sitting down.
    7. So who plays Thunderbirds, anyway?
This always generates lively discussion, but lots of well known bassists play or have played Thunderbirds, from John Entwistle to Suzi Quatro to Leon Wilkeson to Nikki Monninger to Overend Watts to Geddy Lee to ...
    8. How do I join?
Just drop in, post a photo of your Thunderbird (not a stock photo, not someone else's), and ask for a number. But feel free to dive in or wade in first if you prefer. We don't tend to be real formal. Well, @PillO does. Don't ruffle his watermelons.
