I am going to be as detailed and thorough as I can here:

pablomigraine has a talkbass account that is like 17 years old at this point and was a mod and very active user here, with alot of deals done and good feedback, which command alot of respect around here and are all very good things to see when looking at doing a deal. This place is basically built on trust and following through and it's a pretty great community.

Prior to posting this bass for sale the account was inactive for a few years, which can be a red flag and mean the account was targeted for the reasons i listed above, and hacked to try to scam someone.
I was intrigued by his account name because my 17 year old dog's name was Pablo and he had just passed away and I felt like this was a sign I should buy it.
pablomigraine did quickly answer my messages and we even spoke on the phone a bit and I felt comfortable enough and I did buy the bass and sent PayPal payments.
pablomigraine called me the day it was going to be shipped saying there was a small issue...that the B string was ".....(long pause)...coming unraveled" and he wanted to check with me about it before shipping it. He said he would either send me like $25 to cover simply buy a set of strings and have them shipped to me and that he had a Sweetwater account and for me to pick which ones, which I did...then pablomigraine told me that ONLY D'Addario strings would be long enough for this bass though (fanned frets with longest being 35"), I said I wanted DRs anyway and if they didn't work, I'd just deal with it. He said he's have them sent that same day. I was fine with all of this and did appreciate the call about it.

the Strandberg arrived promptly and was packed very well and the bass was pretty much as described....so I started looking at the B string and quickly realized that it was not unraveling at all and it was simply a string made for a shorter scale instrument. The string taper started between the first fret and the zero fret (nut) and the thinner/narrower part of the string was sitting on the zero fret. This is a headless bass but the ball ends of the strings anchor down at the end/lower bout like a normal bass with tuners on the headstock, and on this Strandberg you run the strings through the locking posts just past the nut/zero fret.
even more weird was the B string kind of rang out when played open because there was so much bow in the neck, enough bow to let that fat B string vibrate even with the tapered part of the string sitting on the zero fret...this string taper went from like .120" to like .075' and still almost rang true, and I don't know if someone put that much bow in the neck to try to get the B string to ring cleanly and didn't know or see what was going on or what...think about how much neck bow you'd need for that to happen.

here is where pablomigraine basically goes silent. I texted a few thoughts/comments/questions about the bass and the string and they went pretty much ignored. I had a gig a week from getting the bass and wanted to use it so I waited until the night before the gig and then I took a low B off my other 35" scale bass and put it on the Strandberg and had to cut the string at the locking post..this is a semi-formal gig and I didn't want 1 string wound up or hanging off the end of the neck.
I sent pablomigraine a PM on talkbass and he didn't respond. I texted him and told him I had sent him a message on talkbass and he didn't respond to it.
I waited a month from the deal and I texted him again about the strings and he said he was very sorry and he was on vacation and he would take care of it....so I waited another month and here we are and I have never heard from him or or seen any strings and as of now, he hasn't logged into talkbass since shortly after the deal.
so now I have two 5 string, 35" scale basses with mismatched strings and one without a B string and I can't just swap the strings around with a Strandberg because you gotta cut them like an inch from the nut/zero fret.
if anyone has actually read this far, you might think "what's the big deal?" and sure, this is not a huge deal, financially but it's the kind of thing you think about when you are looking at which bass to grab for practice, gig or whatever...and it makes it sour. I don't want it anymore and I don't touch it.

sometimes I wonder if it was even pablomigraine's bass...not that it even matters here, but since he's a big industry guy and former CEO of a guitar company, he should have noticed what was going on with the B string and the jacked up neck/set up, which I didn't even mention to him. The only detail he mentioned in the description was a very small finish sag on the back of the neck, which is one of the last things I would put in a description of this bass (and pretty easy to make disappear with even some amateur level finish sanding).

so there's my feedback...fwiw and probably nobody will ever read this but I guess typing it out gives me some kind of closure.
