You are correct! I read somewhere that the natural color is out of China.
Now, question for you.. how did you know?

Yes, only the natural model of the 70s Jazz Bass (Classic Vibe) has Chinese examplaries, but not all of them, some are still made by Cortek in Indonesia, they alternate deliveries. I knew it was the Chinese one because of that region on the body:

Hi All,
I posted a few weeks ago about my newish (July '24) Squier CV60 P bass developing free sprout. I tried "kissing" the ends with a Victorix sharpening stone. That helped a bit but more was needed. I used a spark plug file I had in my assortment of needle files. It is a small flat file with teeth only on the flat surfaces but not the edges. After smothing the ends of the frets, I polished the with a fine foam nail board from the dug store. I protected the finger board with blue painter's tape. I did the work with the strings lossened and tied together with velcros a 1/2" or so below the edge of the fingerboard around the back of the neck. That way I didn't have to straighten out the strings to pull them through the bridge. The strings are pretty new and about $50 with tax (D'Addario flats). Messing with the windings can cause a string to break prematurely.
Last steps were to apply lemon oil sparingly to the finger board and tune it up.
Feels and plays like a "million bucks" now.
