No, the VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulation) is basically a high frequency attenuator. It makes the speaker sound less modern by cutting out frequencies that you didn't get back in the day with old school bass cabs. I almost always have it turned up a notch or two just to take the edge off of the piezo tweeter. It does not add any hair like the Aguilar Drive control.
