Xotic Xjpro-1 5 String Bass

The bass feels and sounds great. Exactly what you’d expect from a higher end product but there are some definite quality control issues that show on these import models even though they’re “inspected and final assembled” here in America. The neck pocket is tight on the treble side and a wide gap on the bass side. I have Mexican Fender’s with tighter neck pockets. The countersunk holes on the back for the neck bolts have weird offcenter gaps as well. This tells me the machining in Indonesia isn’t the best. There are 3 or 4 spots where there is obvious trash in the paint that got in there while spraying underneath the poly finish. There are bare spots of wood where it didn’t get sprayed where the counter sunk holes are on the back. The pickguard came with booger marks on it where you adjust the truss rod. The feel, sound, and overall final setup itself is great. I’m hoping they can get a little bit better on the quality control end. They tighten that up and this bass is a serious contender in the mid price market.
