    1974 P Bass Pickups - no string sound, magnets register

    Tried installing 74 pickups in my 11. It's got no sound from the strings but tapping on the poles registers sound normally through the amp. Seems weird that tapping on the magnets would do anything when the strings do nothing. Cable measured at 250k ohms. Before I tear it apart again, any thoughts?

    I was thinking of getting a set, but thankfully, the listing I found showed how the length of the bridge pickups is longer than the neck pickup. I don't know which is standard size for a fender pickguard or rout.
