    So I bought a 2013 Gibson thunderbird this weekend because.....GEAR....and I want to replace the place covers on the pickups with the old style chrome plated kind. Is this just a simple thing where I unscrew the old one and put at chrome cover on it, or is it more involved in that?

    How many Jazz bass players notice the difference in sound. when the rear pick up is located nearer to the bridge ? The common place to locate the rear pick up is further up, as done by most manufacturers. But I find that this latter position dilutes the original Jazz sound.
