    Is there any reason why you shouldn't use standard scale strings with a shortscale bass?

    The Fender Mustang P/J I bought, and it seems many others that have shipped, have full scale strings on them. It sounds fine, they play fine, is there any reason I need to buy shortscale strings when I replace them?

    Question about scale length and putting a full scale neck on a shortscale body.

    Is it possible to take a full 34 inch scale neck, cut it down 4 inches (modifying with a block if necessary to compensate for any material necessary to fill the neck pocket) in order to put onto a shortscale bass?
