I have two brand new sets of Elixir Stainless Steel 5 string sets. Price is $25 shipped to CONUS each.
Again, that is $25 per set, not $25 for both sets.

I don't see these talked about much on TB. I've used EB Nickels and Cobalts extensively and love both of them but I'm wondering how these compare tonally and tension-wise.
I remember these got really good marks on a bass string shootout in Bass Player Magazine in the 90's.

I like these strings. I put them on a bass that I never ever wanted to restring again. I chose this stringset over all others mainly because of things I didn't want to hear. On the top end nothing: bright; clanky, 'modern', or twangy. On the bottom end the last thing I wanted was a dull dead...
Well the title says it all. I prefer stainless sound on my Jazz bass elite5 and I currently use rotos swing bass 5string.
The sound is really nice, I especially love the feel of the 5th string, but see the title problem.
Is there a way to overcome this? Fast fret doesn't help (well it does for...

It's that time... Time to change the strings
Any recommendations on a good round wound, stainless steel, normal gauge 6 string set which happens to be extra long?
since I have no option other than string through body, the ball end to nut is about 38"-38.5", if the silk wrap starts before that -...

First, I have a nickel allergy so I'm looking for stainless steel rounds only.
I need some help guys and gals. I'm using D'Addario Flexsteels on all my 4 string basses and love them (yes, I know they are discontinued but I have a huge stash). They are really aggressive sounding with good mids...

Hey all!
So to sum it up quickly: I'm a bass player who plays in an alternative rock group that play aggressive grungy/alt rock/ metal, often with chilled or jazzy verses or bridges.
For my sound I use an Ampeg SVT with an overdrive for a very aggressive clanky/grindy hi-middy big tone with a...

Bought these recently and am going in a different direction. E, A, D, and G string never cut and never installed. B string cut and strung... for about 5 minutes and decided I don't want the tapered core. So here's a chance to get a basically brand new set for $25 shipped CONUS.

Hi. Looking for some real bright yet balanced strings that last long. Something like really fresh Slinkys and Roto 66. Nickel or coated is just not an option, unless you find one that sounds almost like steel (like Slinkys but long lasting, maybe coated Slinkys will be bright enough, but can't...
Dunlop super bright stainless steel 40-100 gauge set. E and A strings were installed on a Fender p bass for 5 minutes when I realized I prefer the feel of the nickel brights. The G and D strings were not installed so brand new. $13 shipped in conus.

They say brass saddles are warmer, and stainless saddles are brighter.
If you have a Kickass bridge, which saddles do you use, and what style(s) do you play most that benefit from your choice?
I know everyone's mileage varies, I'm just curious. Even widely varying experiences of the same...
To those of you that use both of the above, do you generally see faster fretwear vs. jumbo frets? I know that a lot of this has to do to grip, etc. but I am curious what you guys might think.
