1000 Watt + Bass amp owners

I don't know, but there was one gig where the rented SVT they had for me took a tube dump a minute into soundcheck, and I had to do the gig with the SD1200 they brought as backup, and it was pretty darn decent.
I know this an ancient thread, but I can tell you that the SD1200 is my favorite non all tube amp. It's head room is endless. So much so that i use high pass filter( usually set at 32hz) with it. It has so much slam that it makes even high wattage speakers go into thermal compression. I don't know of a louder amp. It's tone is very much like the venerable Markbass F1/500.

Reiner Saturn Saturn V - easily makes 1200 into 2 or 4 ohms. For me, that power is all about headroom, whether into this Hathor 1203 or any of my much larger cabs. The amazing one this beast has is unbeatable, so easy to dial in.

I'm keen on headroom. I like my gear just ticking over. When I reached a certain level of volume on my 500 watt amp I knew I needed to move up to an 800 watt amp.

Although I never reached any limit on that amp, it didn't stop me getting a Berg Forte HP. I'm not criticising anyone's choices or that amp, but for me, all I can say, 1200 watts was just madness!!

The best move I ever made, was to buy better, louder, more sensitive cabs and that brought my 500 watt amp right back into the ball park.

My 19" 4.5kW amp died in a fire. I have not replaced it.
I have the funds available, but I don't see the need for it.
My 500W / 600W class D amps actually reach beyond the orange and even red SPL level and manage to get to the first level of stupidity without maxing out the headroom.

I use a Shuttlemax 12.2, which is two 600 watt power amps, with a two channel preamp, that is blendable. Can't see me wanting anything else.
