US: West 2018 Emeral City Bass Convention - September 9th

Here's me looking way cooler than I sound! I did NOT plug this thing in because seriously, nobody needs to hear me fumble about. :roflmao:  :roflmao:
Oh come on man, even after being at one of those things, you still haven't figured it out? You can't ooh-and-ahh at the awesome sound if you don't plug it in -- and more to the point, you're robbing the owner of the bass the enjoyment of watching you lose yourself in his instrument! Seriously, nobody cares how well you play or don't play as long as you're respectful toward the gear and you're enjoying yourself.

Word. I was stoked that quite a few people took my fretless Marco for a spin this year.

Okay, I'll be the guy who says it.
Has anyone started thinking about the 2020 get-together? You know, while we're all locked down and can't go anywhere. What better way to pass the time than think about the days when we could.......you know.......get-together. :roflmao:
You may be the first to say it here, but not the first to think about what a bum steer it is that we'll be forgoing this year's GTG along with all the other local shows and big tours that have been nixed in 2020 :( The idea of meeting up and checking out others gear by live video camera or while wearing gloves doesn't sound appealing in the slightest

And we are both about to have "Lockdown" birthday parties. :bored:
I am the 13th, you are the 15th. I was hoping to head up for yours this year. :(

Later this year, if Ray would like to return to hosting the event in the larger, more fleshed out manner we've all enjoyed in previous years, I'll happily defer to him and his plans. If not, I know the owner of the place we did it in last year (Aurora Borealis), himself a bass player, has already offered up his spot once again and has asked to ask him first :D That actually worked out really well last time, it just wasn't as heavily attended as in years past. But the place was cool, beer and food was good, the venue was FREE, has parking, easy to load into/out of. Let's see how things shake out in a couple months.

That venue was great in my book, about as good as it gets really. A certain luthier friend of mine has plans to do one on the east side sooner or later too, but obviously there are no solid plans at this time.

I was getting things all setup for an Aug/Sept one in January, but, then the world changed so it's now basically on hold. Might need to be another year of a low key, player-focused one :)

Heh. Marco's is gonna be beer-focused, mostly.

Hey Charlie, would you mind updating us here is Marco is doing an east side one?
Bellevue or Kirkland, I think. I'll ask him the next time I talk to him. Not meant to replace Ray or Sean's in any case. And another one around the Hood River area is always on my radar.
