.30 bends

I think I got these on sale for about $14 shipped. Worked great on a 35” scale. I’ll probably do these again.

And for all the remarks about thin tone, I totally disagree. The Cirrus had all the growl and power I expected with super light strings. These strings were about the limit for light.

I tried a few home rolled sets of lowriders, .080-.030, tuned E-G, but they were too light. Any touch fretted, so muting became an issue. Kind of getting into stick territory. Great for tapping if touch bass is your thing. I’d use the A-G strings from a pack of lowriders, plus a .030 C string, tuned E-G. That’s down tuned quite a bit. Ended up overshooting the mark.

Not being a big Metallica fan, I’m wondering if they routinely tune down. As I recall, Burton was a guitar player first. Light strings and downtuning would be a natural fit.

I reused a lot of string sets, so the experiment budget was reasonable.

Beats me. I just asked Dr. Google. Now that I look more, mebbe the G was a 0.035". I dunno. I'm not really a fan one way or other.
ditto here. interesting thing about burton to me is he was completely developed before metallica. looks, image, performance, playing, everything. all they had to do was pick him up and plug in his amp.
