5 STRING P BASS QUARTER POUNDER

Hi Guys,

I excited to swap out the stock pickup on my new squire for the quarter pounder. I have a set of jazz bass quarter pounders for my 5 string squire jazz that I love!

Anyone hear used the quarter pounder for P Bass? I like to hear your opinion on it.. I should have mine installed my tuesday..

I know you are so right! I only was going to swap it out because I ordered it the same time I ordered the bass.. I have a Muy grande in my 4 string and it really sounds great!! I was really hoping the 5 string quarter pounder was going to sound something like that...I need to see if Muy grande makes a 5 string version.
If you really like the stock pickup, why not keep it?

For an aggressive P pickup, I always recommend Rio Grande, Muy Grandes.[/QUOTE

Oh its a 5 string P, I wasn't even aware there was a 5 string version of a SPB-3. In hind sight I should have realized that because of the title of the thread :banghead:

For the record, Mr Hopkins has been very vocal regarding his distaste for the venerable QP and I respect that. Many others have voiced their appreciation of the QP as well. You won't know if you like it or not until you try it.

True, I have been vocal regarding my dislike of the SPB-3, but I have also described the sound of the pickup very accurately

The Hot P-Bass has a lot more mids than the QPs, but some people absolutely love the QPs tone. Go figure.
