I have the DOD FX62 too and I'd be interested to know how you get the "throb" sound? I like the chorus but find the controls very sensitive. The relationship between the depth and delay time can make the throb into more of a muddled type of throb if I'm not careful. At higher rate settings and with the other two knobs past noon you can get some pleasant throb. It never gets fast enough to do a Leslie, but I like the medium-high speed settings more than pretty much any other pedal; it sounds way more organic, and never seasick.
I usually end up with the depth and delay time maxed and the speed at 1/3 which gives a rich chorus. As you say, as long as you don't overdo the speed it's hard to go too wrong with this pedal.
