70's P Pickups: Serious Help Needed.

What would be the reason for this if I may ask?
I just wouldn't heat the contact points on a pickup unless I absolutely needed to. You have to do this on the new pickups; you don't on the old ones. As I said, there is some limited risk of heating the contact point and the lead from the coil coming loose when you do. There is also some risk of damaging the pot by overheating it, but that risk is low, and IME that is an easier thing to fix.

Copy, thanks for the advise.

I'm totally with you on this. Overheating them can ruin them, and the less you do it, the better off you are.

DD, 50 cents says you'll have the Geezer back on in a month :D

C'mon now. Sure, the Geezer may be a great sounding pickup with its full bottom, perfect amount of aggression in the mids, and as much top end as you want. But let's be real here. It is a P pickup with rounded edges and a lightly textured top. What's up with that?

Haha, wow Jimmy, that's unlike you to say something like that about the Geezer.

But really these are not going into my 77. These are headed for my 2015 American Standard. The Geezers will remain in the 77 which is routed for a PJ setup.

I don't know. I guess that's EMG's gimmick. Can't say as I've had complaints about it, though, so I don't worry so much about it.
