About Leland Sklar: Suggested Reading

I've been to a recent (mid-March I think) gig with Judith Owen in London. Got a chance to have a brief chat and a photo opportunity with you (plus Rob Harris and Steve Lawson, whom both I meet slightly more regularly and who are used to my annoying mug). Also grabbed a CD and got it signed by Judith and yourself :) Great album! I enjoy it immensely, my favourite track being probably "Some Arrows Go Too Deep" (fantastic deep bossa feel) and "You're Not Here Anymore" with your very melodic playing. Beautiful songs with perfect bass tone throughout, on a gear-nerdy note - is it a Starbass? Or your Frankenstein? On the gig your tone was awesome as well, I expected it but it struck me how sweet you sounded. Just trying to say that I admire your work and will always cherish the moments of meeting you (previous one was at last years London Bass Guitar Show). Another thing I feel I need to express, is my respect for all the right things you stand up against in your social media activity. Thank you very much for giving an exquisite example of professional and human integrity and for taking time to be here.

Welcome Mr. Sklar and thank you for taking part in this forum! I have admired your playing a long time, especially the Lyle Lovett stuff, and just hope I can think of something smart to ask. Have you considered a no beard questions allowed policy?

I met Leland at NAMM several years ago and when my companions asked if we could get a pic with him he said sure, but only if we'd then pose for him flipping him the bird. We obliged of course. Apparently he collects these. Funny guy.
