For the past two days, every time I go to talkbass.com I am asked to click the box to show 'I am a human". This is not the two factor authentication thing (don't get me started on that issue). I am not logging in to anything. I am just typing talkbass.com into my browser (firefox 109.0.1 on mac) and hitting 'enter'. I'm not trying to log in, I'm just surfing to the site. I am allowing cookies from talkbass. There are 29 of them right now. Is this happening to anyone else? Why me? Why is it always me?

It's the same imac I've been using for the past eight years. No software updates, no changes. It started about four days ago. And it happened again just now. If I lose my access to talkbass, I will be very very sad. There could even be tears. I hope it doesn't get to "So long, and thanks for all the fish".

I never saw a captcha but I have seen a page asking me to unblock whateveritwas.cloudflare.com in my ad blocker to continue (not gonna happen), I guess this is related. I saw it a few times in the last few days, never twice in a row so I guess this is Cloudflare insisting on a check from time to time at random; for now it never was a real blocking problem, just hostile-looking UI.

The ray ID is 85806441ab2a0c80. I came to the site several times today, the human test happened just now on my latest visit. Thank you for looking into this for me.

Thanks, I was able to easily look this up. Çloudflare is tagging you as a "likely bot" for some reason. I will whitelist your IP, hopefully that takes care of it and this will not happen again

Paul, Thank you so much for looking into this for me. I have Comcast cable internet, hopefully my cable modem keeps its IP address. At least I know I'm still a human and not Max Headroom. Thank you.

PPL, do not be alarmed by seeing Cloudflair verification. Cloudflair is one of the most robust defences for keeping bots out of the server. I would rather see the verification than a ton of bot spam.

Also, OP. The fact that you have not updated your iMac in 8 years could also be a cause of this. OS Updates keep you secure and you might possibly have something on your OS that is spoofing your IP.

For example, If I conect to TB from my real IP, I do not see the cloudflair prompt, but if I connect using a VPN, I will always see the cloudflair prompt.

If you do not like seeing the prompt, I would urge you to update your OS and make sure you do not have any malware on your devices. Contrary to popular urban legend, Macs are not immune from viruses or Malware.
