For the past two days, every time I go to talkbass.com I am asked to click the box to show 'I am a human". This is not the two factor authentication thing (don't get me started on that issue). I am not logging in to anything. I am just typing talkbass.com into my browser (firefox 109.0.1 on mac) and hitting 'enter'. I'm not trying to log in, I'm just surfing to the site. I am allowing cookies from talkbass. There are 29 of them right now. Is this happening to anyone else? Why me? Why is it always me?

PPL, do not be alarmed by seeing Cloudflair verification. Cloudflair is one of the most robust defences for keeping bots out of the server. I would rather see the verification than a ton of bot spam.

Also, OP. The fact that you have not updated your iMac in 8 years could also be a cause of this. OS Updates keep you secure and you might possibly have something on your OS that is spoofing your IP.

For example, If I conect to TB from my real IP, I do not see the cloudflair prompt, but if I connect using a VPN, I will always see the cloudflair prompt.

If you do not like seeing the prompt, I would urge you to update your OS and make sure you do not have any malware on your devices. Contrary to popular urban legend, Macs are not immune from viruses or Malware.
I do not disagree with what you have said. The problem with updating the OS is I will lose most of my software in the upgrade. The most important piece of software I would lose is rocksmith. It's the only way I can practice my bass. Without the program, I'm is serious trouble. Plus, I would lose photoshop, excel, sketchup, and more. Sadly, I seem to attached to the OS by an inclined plane wrapped helically around an axis.

They are not random. It's a test to see if you can figure out some of the crazy things my wife and I are into. I can give you the links of you are interested curling, sumo, landscaping, or old car shows. You already know the link to talkbass!!
Maybe instead of a “show me your red pbasses with flats” thread we should have a “show me your current bookmarks” thread. Might prove to be way more interesting.

I got that this morning, from my phone.

They was a news report this morning that the cell system for some carriers like AT&T was down. It might have had something to do with that.

AT&T customers hit by widespread cellular outages in U.S.

I just logged off and then back in and didn't get the prompted.

I have zero judgement on how folks maintain Their own systems. Just be aware that using an outdated OS with cracked software could introduce many things you would not want on your system and it’s no wonder you’re seeing the cloud flair so often.
