Looking to replace the black pickguard on my black P bass (rosewood fretboard) with a tort guard. I like that the brown tort guards are darker. I like red, but they're all so bright. But I don't know how that will look overall.

Should I take my chances with red or go with darker brown tort?

Does anyone know of a dark red tort guard other than the $200 ones from spitfire?

I've purchased two pickguards from WD Products, the most recent being a couple of weeks ago. I ordered it on a Tuesday night and had it by Friday afternoon using the cheapest shipping option. Fit like a glove. They have a great selection.

Oddly enough I replaced a tort with a five layer black.

I'm intrigued by their "mint green tortoise". Definitely looks darker and more red than brown.

My personal preference is brown tort on black/rosewood. Here's mine:

Brown tort, please.

Red tort on black makes me envision something more like you'd find cruising Colorado Boulevard on a hot Saturday night.

Both are stylish looks. Each has its own vibe.

I'm more the Rolls-Royce type myself.

YMMV.

I like the way you think. Definitely leaning brown
