Double Bass Anybody has some experience with GR 110 combo?

John,
Sorry for the confusion and apologies on my part. I thought you had posted a “review” of the GR 110 cabinet singing it’s praises.
That would be one of the few evaluations of GR products by a “authentic source” IMHO.:)

Hey Ric,
I am a college bass professor here in Houston, and I have the AT110. I have been using it for about 7 months or so. It replaced a Wizzy. Not sure if you'd consider me an "authentic source" or not, but here's my take:

It is hilariously light as you know. Around 10 pounds. I PREFER the metal grill...better protection and looks better, IMO.
It performs WONDERFULLY. I am playing through a Clarus SL, and it works so well in a group context! I have A/B'd it with the Wizzy and Trickfish 110 with the kickback handle. GR Bass wins. Fatter and fuller than the Wizzy, but doesn't sound like a Slab Cab.

The Trickfish sounds better with an electric bass. I can hear myself clearly with the GR, and my bass sounds like my bass, as much as it can with a piezo pickup. It really is the best DB cab that is commercially available, IMO. Handles 300 watts, and only breaks up at the end of it's range. The TF will go louder, but sounds more like a P bass, in the way that the TF cab is tuned.

I have the 8 ohm version, by the way. It has just been fantastic with a trio, big band, etc. My favorite little guy!

hi! Thank you for sharing your feedback. I was trying the same model earlier today and I found the fan a bit too noisy. Did you experience a similar issue?

Yes, it has a quiet fan, but it never gets loud. It hasn't been remotely detrimental to me or the people I play with in the least. When I'm playing live, no one is gonna hear any of it unless my audience is 2 fleas gettin' down on a pillow. I did a trio album with a singer. I went bass>Yamahiko +studio mic>booth/cans so never needed an amp when I record. I dunno...carrots?

Question for GRbass110 users: is it possible to put this speaker in a bag with shoulder strap or in a backpack?
I use the subway so I need to move with my double bass and the speaker (the head is a small AI Clarus SL, so not a problem). The weight is perfect but dimensions are not so small, I'm wandering if its too cumbersome to put on the shoulders...

I am sure Studio Slips would make you a backpack for it. Not cumbersome if you wore it that way.
