Ashdown CTM-200R

No actual amps out there? Guess we'll have to be patient. They can be preordered: Ashdown CTM-200R Valve 3u Rack Bass Head

Never heard of this music-store though.

Nothing to worry about with PMT, they are one of the biggest retailers in the UK. Never used them myself but they have a great range and seem very reputable. Probably find plenty of endorsers over on BassChat...

Sounds like it's been based on the Trace V4 Mk2.

Looks very neat on the back, but I suspect tube changes will be a PITA!

Looks like you'd have to remove the cover. I took this from the Ashdown site...

"Each output valve is individually fused and user replaceable without removing the unit from its case (meter also indicates valve or fuse failure)."

I must have a different tone stack in my CTM-30 Little Stubby then. I’m still amazed at the range of tonality I’m getting out of this amp.

I believe the CTM200 will share the same preamp voicing as the CTM100 and CTM300. Although the cosmetic are different all three amps have exactly the same front panel controls. The layout of the CTM30 and LB30 preamp is actually pretty similar to the CTM100/300 preamp, but uses different component values and different tubers, which changes the voicing a bit. I believe you will find the smaller amps are more mid scooped and have more treble extension.

The Ashdown tube preamps are an evolution of the Trace Elliot V-Type Preamp. I believe you will find the voicing of the CTM30 and LB30 are closer to the V-Types than the bigger amps. The Mk1s only have four 12AX7s. The Mk2 V-Types have a switchable high-gain channel, a compressor, and a total of seven 12AX7s. To my ears the Mk2s are a little bit more open in the mids and a bit leaner on the low end than the MK1s.

The CTM200 and CTM300 have two 12DW7 tubes, two 12AU7 tubes, and one ECC99.

The CTM30/LB30 has two 12AX7 and one 12AU7.
