Ashdown CTM-200R

Oh man oh man, those are beautiful gut shots!!!!! Thanks for sharing. When you installing those leather grab handles?

The handles came with screws/nuts for a wood head case, I ordered stainless short machine screws, locking nuts and washers... should land Wed

Its a shame it was dropped. I wonder why these weren't made with rack ears? No rack ears, no handle, no rubber feet...sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

I would love to try out one of these soon.

it is unruly with nothing, handles will help... there are rack ears, front and back, that can be installed if wanted.

AFAIK the "R" in the model stands for rack.

Exactly, comes with front AND rear rack ears in the box... this unit had them on when it fell, the one side's brackets are mostly straight instead of right angled. I'm requesting a new rack kit with the replacement Gain knob (the skirt is missing a section and the silver foil in the center is wrinkled.

i keep coming here seeking more.

words about sound are poor substitute but if you have any, please share the juicy details.

Soon! One of the ceramic power tube fuses isn't good. All tubes glow, but the bias setting for one isn't registering... I have moved the fuses to different tubes and the tube number that doesn't register changes. Replacement fuses are landing today. So, once at 100% I'll make some recordings.

The head/cab combo sounds killer with my vintage Ibanez passive PJ (1983 RB924 with light Curt Mangan Stainless rounds) and fretless 6 (custom wound Suhr dual coil and 3-band preamp with TI jazz flats)... but holy crap have I fallen back in love with my Bee Basses Worker Bee 7 string (ash core with Acrylized Maple top/back/neck, Acrylized Wenge board, Delano MM style pickup, 18v 3-band Bee Pre and also wearing light Curt Mangan Stainless rounds)...

warm, tight, articulate, smooth, big, etc... words are words and who knows what people really hear! I'm rounding out the honeymoon and ready to do some recording to see how it sits during playback :)

Am I taking crazy pills or did I miss reading somewhere in this thread where you dropped this amp??

Open Box from MF was dropped... but for $925 off list and still considered a new amp with 5 year warranty from Ashdown... I'm okay with it. The rack ears took the majority of the damage (which I'll never use). The guts are pristine and beyond the chipped gain knob, there is a minor dent in the bottom edge of the case.

The replacement fuses totally changed the character and brute force of this head... WOW! and HOLY CRAP!

it's 17" wide by just over 5" tall... and about 15" deep. Made to mount in a rack case

Looks great. Cool mods too!

How wide and deep is the amp? I've seen various dimensions online so it would be good to get a definitive from someone who owns one!

Thanks, I dig the look... but the tone is where it is at! I owe everyone some recordings, but my second Bag End D12-B is still being built, my speaker cables too... then I am about to start building patch cables for my newly put together pedal board... last piece just got delivered today.

That was cm to inch conversion I did from the Ashdown site. It is more like 17.5" wide, 16" deep, and 5.5" tall.... I added 1.5" to the height with my mods

Got me one of these and I must say it's probably the best amp I ever had : tubey in the best sense, powerful, growly or smoothly lush - depending how you set it. The controls need time to get used to, and some are rather subtle to hear (bright, mellow, deep) - which is good if you hate the types of control making a big not really usable jump, or bad if it is a big difference you are expecting.
The adjustable bias is a very good asset, I think every tube amp should have it in one form or another.
And the 22 kg weight ? Well it is heavy in comparison with solid state, especially class D, but rather light vs a SVT or other 300 W valve versions : does 300 W really make that much difference ? Coming from a 50 W Ampeg PF-50T, this one does sound say about twice as loud with 4x the power, so 1,5x the power will sound just a bit louder.
