For me, playback is a mix of my Behringer B2031 monitors on my computer, Logitech speakers to an iPod or PC, built in speakers of an iPad streaming, various headphones, or CD player to home speakers. Most recently a return to listening to live FM radio on those same home speakers. Live radio folks!
I had the 3rd gen Apple AirPods for a month, and they really work great with seamless pairing between Apple devices, and to me sounded excellent, until they kept falling out of my ears. They would not stay in, so I returned them
I don't listen to as much music "out loud" as I should. A lot of times I replay mental recollections of music. All in the mind.
I do recommend buying / downloading purchases of music you really like. Streaming has the big pitfall that if the corporation for some reasons replaces a specific recording with a remaster/lyrics edited/ remix etc recording, then suddenly that is what you only have access to. The other one is no longer available. But when you download it, you have it. Ditto obviously for physical media.
