B25

Thanks Corey. I was going to page you for clarification on the matter. Another amp that is somewhat similar but very different is the Ampeg V2. Much more conventional in the ohm settings and a bit more grit.

The V2/VT40 shares a lot with the B15S, same basic power amp design but the preamp on the B15S is a littler different and noticeably lacks the active mid range circuit.

The V3 was just a rebranded B25 (little difference from the B25B as far as I know).

I did get it cheap enough (practically gave it to me) to where I wouldn’t mind spending a couple hundred to get it serviced, I just don’t want to hand it off to any guitar store that happens to have a kid in the back room with a dirty soldering iron just dying to test his/her newly acquired skill on my amp. Someday!
Well, I'm not sure what the reference was toward an inexperienced tech, or why you would consider taking a vintage amp to someone you don't know for servicing. I find most amp techs work out of their house, which may initially make them a little harder to track down, especially if they're doing any work for local music stores, but they are out there.
I sure didn't know they were out there, until I needed one. A music store is not always going to tell you where they send their customer's gear out for repair, but you can always find out. Patience is the key. I'm sure in typical Ampeg manner, that just a servicing will bring your B25 back to life, and that you'll have as good of luck as I had with mine, with just a service, and (power) re-tube.
