bach2bass.com

I remember being a young aspiring bassist and watching (I watched this video multiple times!) an old John Pattitucci Instructional Video where he performs the G Major Prelude from the Cello Suites. I was so blown away... With your resource, I may finally have the gumption to give it a whirl. Thank You!!! Of course, with the 6 String, John does take advantage of the extended range. I love the last chord....

Wonderful stuff! I come from a classical background, voice and flute, specializing in baroque performance in both, and Bach is one of my favorites. I've recently started working on the cello suites on fretless electric bass, using the Ricordi transcription for double bass in the attached photo. I'm loving it, and am very happy to add your site to my resources. Thanks for the great work!

Very nice work and a great resource. Only comment that I would make is that I don't get the need for Tab for this type of music. My one big gripe with the des Pres Bach for Bass book is that including tabs makes the notation pages twice as long as they need to be. Taking on Bach for me has been a great way to hone my notation reading skills (which can always be better than it is!)

It's called Bach2Bass.com, it is very much a work in progress, but the end goal is to have a place that has all required resources to study the cello suites.

I'm at the point where I need to get feedback from the community.

I'm looking for feedback about the study pages, but I would love any comments or ideas.

Wow, very well done, nicely presented and when it gets to a reasonable hour here I'll be digging deeper.

Hi everyone,

Long time visitor - first time poster here.
Recently, I have been studying Bach's Cello Suites on bass guitar.
It's amazing study material, and since I'm a software engineer, I decided to give something back.

I know there are some people on talkbass who have studied these pieces too.

So here's my question, if you have a minute to spare and would you take a look at bach2bass.com, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Phenomenal!
Off of the top of my head I cannot make any suggestions. I didn’t spend a lot of time on the site but I saw enough to bring me back and give it some serious attention this winter. You might already have it available and I didn’t notice but, is there an option to print out the pieces as sheet manuscript?
I can really appreciate your work and will enjoy this.
Thank you!

Wish I this existed when I was a kid.
It's so nice I even want to criticise. I'll soldier on through anyway.
Yep, tabs are crutch. It's on students will to switch tabs off. I suggest having the page default to "no tabs" while keeping the option for the sake of accessibility> weaning off tabs. I tell students tabs are like cigarettes. If you don't use don't start!
Or maybe lock tabs out until they pay $20 monthly.
