dude this thread is not about where do we get our news from ... it is about the surviving members of the Beatles and Stones working together on an album.

but I remember when we only had ABC NBC and CBS .... I also remember when people actually read a newspaper

While reporting on seemingly exciting news, why would you cite three mopes on YT, instead of official sources, or a vetted press release conveyed to legit outlets? What were those guys’ sources? Rumors? Somebody who told somebody something? That’s all.

As for the event at this point, frankly Scarlett…it’s the 21st Century. I’d be more interested in legacy artists working with contemporary people.

C'mon man, this isn't news, Jack, it's rumor!

See, you guys actually agree; it's a win, win.

That was a bit ageist.
Yeah, but between the 2 Beatles and the 3 Stones, we are talking about a group of musicians in which this guy is the youngest member.

So RUDE!!

I’ll get lots of TB flak for this: I love the Beatles. Like, lifetime follower and have a mini-shrine in my office. Let’s face it: McCartney hasn’t turned anything out since early 80’s that’s remotely listenable — and I think the last time I ‘kinda liked anything by the Stones was maybe ‘86 (One Hit to the Body).

Both bands have produced really poor quality music in comparison to comparable artists — and certainly against their own amazing early bodies of work.

Have you listened to the recent McCartney III?

This collab in 1973 — really cool. 2023 — nope.

Oh, you're offended. Got it.

well more disappointed ... I thought this would be a cool topic to discuss about the Beatles and Stones remaining members collaborating for a 2nd time ... the first was when John and Paul sang backup on some songs in the 60s. but instead the thread got hijacked and sidetracked ... maybe the music will be lame ... bur still I thought this was noteworthy. It is not like I shared a flat earth video or something.

I will be first in line to listen to this, but we should probably temper the expectations. I don't think anyone is claiming that it's a full album or that Paul and Ringo are even on the same track. I'd bet a nickel on Paul playing a solid, nondescript, tasteful bass line on a Chuck Berry (or someone of a similar vintage) cover.

In line with your point, they were "reporting" what an old school outlet was reporting (Variety, founded in '05... 1905). They weren't breaking anything, but they might have been reaching an audience that thought they were, even though to a man they said it was Variety that was actually doing the reporting. In other words, the corporate media was breaking the news, these guys were reading it to people who don't seem to consume old school media. Just taking what others reported and manufacturing clicks.

Once again, the citizens of Talkbass prove that anything can be turned into a pissing contest.
Well, I mean, c’mon! What have these Beatles or Rolling Stones people ever done that is anywhere near as listenable as the stuff the average TBer can do in their basement? Besides, all those guys are old, so they have absolutely nothing to contribute to music!
