Double Bass Best bass bag?

The tuffbag arrived today. Except for the reflective markers and having maybe a couple more handles, it’s just about identical to a Mooradian deluxe bag. Good material, thick padding, pockets and Handles in the right places made of nice thick seatbelt material with some padding in them. Fits My 3/4 Czech flatback Just right. We’ll see how it holds up, but for now I’m very happy.

Does it lay on it's side without falling over easily? I have seen that be a problem with this bag.

I bought an essentially new Tuff-Bag from a local player last year. Padding, zipper, handle placement and pockets are great. I like it as much as the Bobelock it replaced.

Unfortunately, a small tear (of unknown origin) at the bottom of the bow pocket has now progressed up the side of the pocket, so I can't store my bow there any longer. I suppose it's an excuse to buy a bow case and upgrade from the padded sleeve I've been using.

Shoe repair places are good at repairing this. They have been patching my Mooradian and Messina bags for years.

The wheels are great, very solid. I know there is a lot of back and forth about wheeled cases - some people claim they do more damage than having an external wheel or a buggy. I don't know. I never had any problems, but I'm in LA so all I do is wheel it from the house to the car and then from the parking lot to the hall. Maybe public transport, city streets etc. would do more damage. I don't know. I did velcro some cloth over the inside grommets (?) that hold the wheels in place, just to make sure they didn't scratch the back of the bass (they never have). So, all in all, I'm happy with it.

I've had one of these for almost 20 years. You can get it with or without wheels. Thick padding, plenty of well placed handles and good pockets. A zipper broke recently and I had it repaired at a local shoe repair shop for $45.

Upright Bass Soft Case with Wheels, Eastman's Presto Heaviest Padded WHEELED "Town Case"

For my money, those are the best all-around case. I prefer them without wheels, coz I had to repair the back of a bass where the thick plastic wheel mounts had eaten into the interior of the case, and then the bass!

Good zippers, and a ton of well-sewn handles in all the right places. What's not to like?
