Best headstock tuner for low B

You mean the Polytune or Unitune or both?

Both. When they only made the Polytune, I used it for everything. When the Unitune came out (slightly cheaper) I bought a few for my upright and acoustic basses. When I interchange them they all work equally well on any of my basses. I've seen guys in the studio use these tuners instead of the old, bigger (standard of the industry) strobe tuners. I don't see it with any of the other brands of clip-ons. I have a drawer full of other brands. JMHO

Absolutely! Also good in loud situations. The Peterson is also very good, but too complicated for me on live gigs. Takes too much time, but very accurate.

I just got a TC Unitune from Sweetwater for 10 bucks and change. No problem reading the B string on either of my 5's.
