Best way to get rid of a beat up large cab?

That's not a bad idea to run it over to GC. Even if they gave me $50 for it I'd have it out of my basement and would hope they could at least get it playable to where someone might want it.

Did the same thing recently with a MIM Fender P Bass I had. I knew it would be undesirable with shipping charges to sell on EB, so I just took it down the local GC and actually got right about what I was looking to get anyway. Wasn't a bad bass at all, but I don't like having gear around that I'll never use and it felt good just to get it out of the house.

I used to have a 12-Stack. I loved the sound of that cab, but it was too big and loud for my needs. I bought it on blowout/clearance and sold it for more than I paid for it. :bassist:

I got this one for $300 shipped to my door after a HORRENDOUS Guitar Center fiasco. The UPS guy carried it up the 15 stairs in the incredibly too big box and lifted it over the rail. He must have been the size of Lou Ferrigno. Took GC 10 days to get it there. They “threw away” my casters because they were “damaged”. I raised holy hell too. They knocked $75 off of it.

It’s totally overkill for my band. It’s got a smokin’ tone though and it sounds like a monster. I’ve comsidered selling it myself but it is truly the cab I have always wanted soundwise.

Here is a photo of it (it looks worse in person). When I got it two years ago it was covered with black duct tape and the grill was more curved in (along with the blown tweeter). It took HOURS of gluing the ripped tolex back on and trying to straighten the grill. The grill has several cracks and a lot of wood glue to get it to where it is here (also has white paint on it). The wheels also had to be replaced and the screws were mostly stripped on the wheel mounts.

I'm sure some of you have or have had cabs in worse condition but most of my cabs have been pretty clean and have had no issues.

If I was closer, I would have offered money for it.
