Broken Bassman 100t, are my expectations too high?

Could be the fault ocurrs, when on a cabinet, and somewhat cranked, some techs don't have large speaker cabinets, to test with, might drag your cabinet in, to have him actually see/ able to reproduce the issue, just a thought

Apparently he recently replicated the issue without the cab or cables. It took a long while, but if so, it seems fairly safe to assume it's not my cab. I did ask about the cab and was clearly turned down.

Too long with no positive results. I know he wants to help blah, blah, but he isn't getting it done.
I think you should get your money back for labor and find a new tech.
It's only fair at this point.
If Fender gives you a new board and the problem isn't fixed I'd say you would really be screwed.
Maybe talk to Fender management and see if this current repair experience seems fair to them.

I've been trying to be fair, but it's getting a bit absurd..
I wish I had the issues you are having relative to the truly absurd issues I have been having all summer long with both Marvin Windows, and the Hunter Douglas companies.

At worse, Fender will replace your amp with a new one. :)

Ah, small world. Do tell, as I have a fairly large quote from both Marvin and Hunter Douglas for a project that will start in the next few months.

Very frustrating. I'm hoping you can get it sorted and back to playing asap. In the meantime, I'm wondering about wall voltage and impedance.

What is the physical location of the equipment when the fuse blows? Are you at home? At a rehearsal space? Is it the same location every time? Do you have any way to check the voltage at the wall? After a couple of disasters at gigs, my son carries one of these everywhere he goes, finds a known good, then plugs in his gear.
CUBE,POLARITY (GT-10) | Greenlee

It doesn't tell you voltage, but it tells you is the plug is wired right.

Can you describe in detail the cab you are using for us? Do you have any way to generate an impedance graph of this cabinet? Can you get your hands on another cabinet?

Good luck.

You shouldn't need it but...

Sweetwater prides themselves on their customer service, after all their prices are no different than other online dealers. They make a lot of money for so when they have an unhappy customer, Fender willl listen.
Not trying to derail but when I had a problem with a Roland part I thought the same thing but sweetwater couldn’t get them to do anything and wouldn’t go the extra inch themselves help me out.

So, a positive update on the amp! Thanks to Sweetwater.

Did Fender come around? No. I emailed them again last Thursday and only heard back a simple email asking for the serial number again last week - even though it was already well documented in the email thread already established. Have not heard anything since.

However, Sweetwater did reply. I explained that it has an intermittent issue and has been in and out of the shop for nearly a year and thus I was not really interested in shipping it to them to diagnose it. Instead they have offered a store credit should I return it. As suspected, the 100t has been discontinued so a replacement is out.

Even though this has played out way too long, I am more than happy with this solution. The amp is on it's way back to them as I type.

In the meantime since starting this thread, the tech was still waiting on answers from Fender. No progress. He called the offer for Sweetwater credit "the deal of the century" as I think he just wants to forget about it as much as I do.

So now I am in the market for a replacement - thinking an Ampeg V4b or potentially a PF-50t with a 2x10 cabinet to go with it. The 100t was unique in that the 25w mode made it a good practice amp and the 100w mode was loud enough for nearly anything through my 8x10. I am leaning towards the PF-50t with 2x10 for practice and not so loud band situation and still keeping the 8x10 for when I need more kick. It probably will be the more flexible setup, though down a bit on total wattage.

Thanks for all the advice.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where you have to keep all of your boxes for a while to make sure that it is solid - especially with larger items like amps and tvs in case you have to ship them back. Pretty sad.

I'm glad that someone is doing right by you. It's a bummer about the amp. I was actually considering that one to replace a Markbass that I'm just not in love with. I don't need the Super Bassman, and I'm not sure about 800.
