Budget 5 string bass with 19mm spacing AND satin neck finish?

I, also, suggest checking out used MTD Kingston Heir 5, used Lakland 55-01, 55-02, all have 19mm spacing and great feeling non-gloss necks. All are 35" scale. I've seen several of each close to your budget.

I am looking for 19mm string spacing 34scale cheap but good tone and quality 5 string bass, and Ofcause I need the solid focus sounding B .

So, I think Squier deluxe dimension is great choice.

Fodera NYC!

Very helpful! ;)

FYI: OP needs this bass less that 500 GBP bought in the UK. That's $648. And that's for prices over there, not here. He also has to pay a VAT which is 20%.

Having said that, what about a Dimension?

Fender Deluxe Dimension Bass V RW in Black | Andertons

Good point, I have to admit I hadn't considered one. I haven't played one before, will keep an eye out though. That price seems too good to be true; I've seen Squier Dimensions at that price, but when I google the Fender they're all £600+.

I need to check the Yamaha BB425x out!

I really like the sound of the MTD Kingston CRB 5 & Heir 5, I just wish I liked the look more (I know that sounds ridiculous :banghead:)

Other suggestions:
- Has anyone played one of these, no idea if the spacing is 19mm or not - Warwick RB Streamer Std 5 Ocean Blue
- WHat's the string spacing on the Schecter Omen Extreme 5?
- I could stretch my budget to get a Tribute L-2500, is that 19mm spacing? I know they're meant to be lovely basses, my ONLY concern is how hot their output is.

I have never played a Dementia, er, Dimension. I have heard good and bad things about the build quality. They look as if they'll sound a lot like a Music Man. But the thing that interests me most is they advertise posiflex graphite rods in the neck. I like that.

I have several BB415s, and on that strength I bought a BB425X It's a really good bass. Much like a P-J bass with a Jazz bass neck. I think the spacing at bridge is 18mm (which I love), but at the nut it's rather tight, as in a Jazz bass. The sound is like a dark P bass. Look up Marta Altesa on youtube to hear one.
You might consider looking for a used BB 415. I bought a beater for $150 US and really love it.

- WHat's the string spacing on the Schecter Omen Extreme 5?

Every Schecter I played has a close string spacing. I had a Schecter Stiletto for awhile and eventually sold it because I didn't like the 35" scale nor the close string spacing. But play one - they're good for the money, and if all you do is fingerstyle it's easy to play. In my case, the fingers on my left hand used to get confused as to what string they were on, the strings were so close together.

I don't know the string spacing, but from what I hear it's hard to go wrong with G and L.

My only bass currently is a Musicman Stingray 4hh. Yeah the BB425x looks like a nice bass. Marta Altesa wasn't the best recommednatiuon though - she's done 1 vidoe with a yamaha bass and it was a bb2025x haha.

The G&L basses have 17mm spacing, so even tighter than the SUB I played. Think that rules them out.

Do the sire v7 basses have 19mm spacing? Only trouble is they have gloss necks, apparently the gloss is only thin though.

I recommended that to show what they sound like. They all sound like that, both my BB415 and 425X do. 2025X (and I think the 1025X as well) have very flat fingerboards compared to the 415.

When I think of "budget" bass, I think "much, much less than $1500". While I agree that $1500 is a fantastic price for that bass, and I think that bass (and pretty much all the BTB basses) is badass, I don't think "a great price/fantastic value" equates to "budget". If I'm shopping for a cheap car to get me around town, and someone tells me they can get me a great deal on a Mercedes for $25,000 - while that may be a fantastic price for an amazing car, it will be far out of my price range. However, kudos to you to have set yourself up so that a $1500 bass is a budget bass for you. That's awesome.

Edit:
To clarify...are we talking US Dollars, or Martian dollars?

No need to poke jabs, bruddah (-:

BOTH basses are $100 over your budget. Hopefully this helps.
19mm and US dollars.

I always recommend that video of Marta whenever I can - a great sounding bass and a great player playing one of the greatest basslines. but if it ain't your cup o' tea...

Michael Antony of Van Halen is famous for using the BB basses, although his model is priced astronomically. Glen Hughes formerly of Deep Purple also plays a 2025X, and as I say, the 425X is 90% like the 2025X.

Man, you are like a dog with a bone about that BTB bass! :)

Have you ever played one? For the price, the amount of bass you get with select-grade materials and features is great.

Just trying to help a fellow out. 19mm ain't for me I don't own any BTB's.
On the other hand, I'm like a dog with a bone about the SR models. I own the Prestige 5006. That's one heck of a bass.

I have, and didn't like it. It's well-made, but not for me. I don't think it came anywhere close to comparing with my 2 Pedullas, my Alembic, my full-on custom Brubaker, or my Modulus. It just felt big and uncomfortable to me, has a giant neck that just wasn't for me. Well, maybe the neck is better than my Alembic, because that thing was like a log. I don't recall what the BTB sounded like, I was so put off by the way it played. But am very happy you like them.

If you don't own one... I think I don't understand... The SRs are rather the opposite of the BTBs, they are so small. Both are well built.

IME 19mm is the domain of 4-string basses. But I like 18mm anyway. Just feels more comfy.

I like the SR models and I don't, which is interesting as I just bought one. The necks feel very small, but I am in love with the light weight Ibanez if putting out.

Not sure what music the OP wants to play, cause it kind of matters. I can't see a BTB fitting in a rock band.

I think the miscommunication is starting to amass here:

You're comparing Pedulla's, Alembics and Brubaker's - all boutique basses in the 2K+ mark to a $700 production Ibanez? Pretty bad comparison in my opinion.
Even the $1500 model is not a boutique custom bass.

I said I don't own any BTB's because I don't like 19mm spacing. That doesn't mean I haven't played it in person or that it's not a great bass.
The OP wanted a 19mm 5 string - that's why I recommended it.
You can't see the BTB fitting in a rock band?
It has two Bartolini sospbars with a 3 band eq installed in standard woods, very similar to most Ibanez basses. The BTB, or any bass, really, with that configuration would fit into just about any genre of music.

I agree with you regarding the SR models. I've owned plenty of them and they all sounded and felt great. Slim necks and light weight body is what I personally like.
Let me put it this way - I sold a $7000 MTD 635-24 in favor of the Ibanez SR Prestige 5006.

I'm with the Martian. The BTBs are great basses. I want a 19mm 5-stringer, and I was going to get a BTB until I decided to go the Hammersmith route. However, I still have trouble thinking of BTBs as "budget". There's also the issue that some are really heavy, and some are not.
