budget replacment for darkglass pedals.(under 200)

I found you had to adjust your playing style a little bit, I was able to get that signature bite with digging in with a pick at 45 degrees from the string, scraping it while picking. With the character knob past noon, it turns from the B15 to more of a modern, alt-rock/metal sounding tone.

Never got it for me. Not even close. I never got on with the SVT/Ampeg sound, though. I tried desperately to like that thing.

The Oxford is way more aggressive and clankier by far. Still different than the B3K, but less top-end aggressive and more midrange aggression.

Here's an example of the cool grainy metallic sheen the B3K adds to my bass. It is stacked in front of a VMT here, but using very little of the VMT (mostly for some added girth):

I think I can get pretty close (at least a bloody good distortion tone) going into a odb-3 with gain at 8-8:30 and then into my joyo ultimate drive which you set with the amount of gain you are wanting..
I found an old clip of the odb-3 going into the ultimate drive and blended with my clean tone via ls-2, but the ultimate drive was set at a very low gain, probably about 8:30 I'd say, so it does sound better with a bit more gain but gives you an idea anyway.

That sounds good, but nothing like a clanky B3K at full tilt:) It sounds very different.

Granted my clip doesn't have near the clank of yours but as I said, it is at low gain, tone down a bit and blended 50/50, so not really the sound I was originally referring to. When I put the gain up to 11 and turn the tone up on UD to get the clank and blend only a bit of clean for nothing else but punch, it does get 'close', but obviously not claiming to be the same. For a third of the price, not bad imo. Like always if you want the real thing then you have to dip into your pocket. Btw, I love listening to your clips

I have an ODB-3 clip from when I used to have it. It was fun.
