Is Zappa’s “Rubber Shirt” a fretless P with rounds?
It's definitely fretless, but I'm almost 100% positive Patrick O'Hearn was playing a MusicMan Stingray on this recording.

Bob Daisley on bass. tbh I was shocked when I learned this was a P.

I wasn't sure about that one, there's a lot of conflicting info about the bass he used on the recording. What's more, he can be seen with a Gibson G3 in the video clip. This can certainly be accomplished with a P/pick/rounds, but my understanding is he recorded Longview with a Kramer 250B. I just sold one to a guy from east Tennessee...not a TB’er. I couldn’t get anyone here to bite after months of flipping and flopping over parting with it. Speaking of bite, it was basically a P with just a little extra cut. And HEAVY.

@Michedelic Thanks for that Rezillos reminder. I have to buy it again after losing the cd years ago.
See: Pete Wentz of Fall Out BoyYou will notice that a P with rounds sounds fantastic played with a pick. It is the epitome of rock bass sound, IMO.
Yes, absolutely. He has a great sound in this song.See: Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy
