Cab replacement speaker recommendations / advice

The last post is correct! A high pass filter will filter out the extra low sounds you can not even hear. Your speakers will be be much happier. Check out a,

It is money well invested. I use one every time I play.

That's not a good solution for an amp that's way too small for the player's expectations. A HPF can only help so much.

It's kind of like putting a bandaid on an amputation.

Well, no arguing with this. The voice of reason has spoken. A high pass filter will help a farting out speaker. But a better rig will be your best answer!
Yes it will help, but say a 25% improvement in effective low frequency power on a 30 watt amp might help it sound like a 40 watt amp... still problematic.

This sounds to me as several other guys here pointed out is that you’ve reached the capacity of power that your amplifier will produce. 30 watts in the world of bass makes for a nice quiet practice amp. If you like the tone this amp gives you but need more sound pressure to keep up with the rest of your band you can always use an external power amp to push the cabinets you’ve described earlier. I’ve used a fairly small bass amp for years. A Roland DB-500. 160 watts into a 12” driver and tweeter. Great for small gigs. When I need more juice for a larger club or outdoor venue I either use a powered sub with it or my qsc power amp and a 4-10 or larger cabinet with it. Food for thought.

I'm against chassis swaps because it is far from as simple as putting another chassis in a box.

You pay money for the good cab builders to tune chassis and cab and factor in compromises, so unless you have those tools and fair aptitude, its pot luck for you.

Save your money for upgrading amp and cabs at some point but dont waste it on trying to make a silk purse out of sow's ear.

My question is:
Why would these not be in onboard preamps for basses these days? Could Roger Sadowsky or Mike Lull or the people at Fender, Yamaha, Ibanez etc., come up with a simplified knob unit to activate the necessary frequency cuts? Or is that just over-simplifying the solution?
