My band has taken the summer off for various reasons, and we were scheduled to play our first show tomorrow night...

Then, Hurricane Harvey.

We were scheduled to play a brew club outdoor end of summer bash with 2 other bands.

I got a call from the brew club president earlier today, telling me the stage is almost under water, and all the power is submerged. So no go. It'll be at least 2 weeks AFTER the storm passes before he can get he damage he knows about fixed...

Anyone else cancelling gigs / having gigs cancel on you for the weekend due to this storm?

Not too bad in Houston so far.

I am currently at my supplier, picking up supplies.

The school was to have a "start of the school year bash" for the teachers. A few of us had been practicing a few songs to play. The party was cancelled since the school is being used as an evacuation center. Everyone was told they had to be out of the building by 5:30. I was one of the last ones out right as the Red Cross trucks were rolling in.

Just finished a gig in Humble, TX an hour ago. Other than the bar tender there were only 3 people in the place that is normally packed on Friday nights.

At least it's a decent reason to cancel. Don't put your fans in danger. A lot of us on talkbass had some serious property damage from hurricane Mathew out here on the east coast. I got off lucky and just had to replace a few sections of my privacy fence where some of the 4x4 posts snapped like toothpicks. I have co workers that lost their homes and everything they owned because of the flooding from that storm.

I am in West Houston and it's starting to get a little crazy. Another tornado warning and the wind is picking up. The endless rain and slow moving storm is going to cause a lot of flooding. Hope all is well with you and be safe!

Had to go move the car to higher ground about thirty minutes ago,tho this street floods easily. Still , we are in the early stages of this.

Hang in there........
